Self-conception– By Refugees for Refugees

Pena.ger eV  sees itself as a civil society-supported, independent structure providing  low-threshold, multilingual initial and referral counselling  for people with refugee and migration experience. Its aim is to provide information about the asylum process,  regardless of time or location  , to offer guidance, identify individual protection needs, and make existing support services accessible.

The online advice service is aimed at people seeking advice who need support with asylum law, social or everyday practical issues.

One of our particular focuses is placed on providing practical support with specific concerns, such as drafting letters to authorities, answering questions about accommodation, access to language courses, medical care, or social services. The core principle is providing guidance and support on an equal footing.

Through our regional and municipal network, we refer people seeking advice to local specialist organizations. This strengthens their ability to act independently in everyday life and facilitates access to local support services.

In the long term, Pena.ger eV pursues the goal of enabling a self-determined and dignified way of life: for example through low-threshold legal information, access to education and advice as well as needs-based referrals.

BY REFUGEES FOR REFUGEES

A central focus of our work at Pena.ger eV  is the active involvement of refugees, not only as those seeking advice, but also as active participants. Our goal is to offer protection, guidance, and orientation while simultaneously opening up prospects for long-term participation, skills development, and secure residency, within our team, in our counseling practice, and in society. We understand participation not as a benevolent offer, but as a consistent stance. Refugees should become visible, heard, and effective as experts in their own lives.  We want to not only support refugees, but also offer them
real opportunities for participation and a long-term perspective on remaining in Germany, in accordance with immigration law, through skills development programs at Pena.ger eV .

Pena.ger eV offers confidential, easily accessible, and multilingual counseling  for people with refugee and migration experience, regardless of their residency status, language, or place of residence.
